Short answer

No one AI tool is best for every person. Careerfornia and Kickresume write the full resume again for each job description. Rezi, Teal, and Enhancv give suggestions that you accept. Jobscan compares a resume with a job description and gives a match rate. Jobright adds job matching. Choose by how many jobs you apply to and how much control you want.

Key points
  • AI resume tailoring tools are of three kinds: full rewrite, suggestions that you accept, and scanners.
  • A full rewrite is fast when you apply to many jobs. Suggestions give you control over each change.
  • Free plans differ a lot. One gives 1 resume, and one gives 5 scans each month. Careerfornia has a 3-day free trial and no free plan.
  • The monthly prices that we could confirm go from $24 to $49.95. Check each price on the vendor's page.
  • Each AI tool can make errors. Read each resume and remove everything that is not true for you.

A resume tailoring tool changes your resume so that it fits one job description. This guide compares 7 tools and one general option. It shows what each tool does, what it costs, and where its limits are.

What is the best AI tool to tailor a resume to a job description?

It depends on what you need. No one tool is best for every person. Use this summary to find the group that fits you.

How do these tools differ?

They differ in who makes the changes: the tool, or you. There are three kinds of tool.

Full rewrite

The tool writes the resume again for one job description. You get a complete resume in one step. You must then read all of it.

Suggestions that you accept one by one

The tool proposes changes. You accept or reject each one. This is slower, but you control each line.

Scanners

A scanner does not write your resume. It compares your resume with a job description. Then it gives a score and a list of gaps.

Many tools do more than one thing. Jobscan also has AI Optimize, with suggestions that you accept or reject. Enhancv also scores your resume against the job description. We put each tool in the kind that its own pages describe first.

How do the 7 tools compare on price and limits?

The table shows the kind of tailoring, the free plan, the paid price, the Chrome extension, and the export formats.

What does each tool do, and who does it fit?

Each tool fits a different way to apply. Each section gives the work, the cost, and one limit.

Careerfornia

You save a profile one time. Then you paste a job description, or click the Chrome extension on a LinkedIn job. Careerfornia writes the full resume again in one click: summary, skills, and each bullet point. The format is one column and safe for an applicant tracking system (ATS). You also get a keyword match and score. It fits people who apply to many jobs each week.

Cost: There is one plan. It is $30 each month for unlimited resumes, as PDF and DOCX files. It starts with a 3-day free trial, and you can cancel at any time.

Limits: It has no free plan. After the 3-day trial, you pay to use it. It can add skills or results that are not in your profile. You must read and correct each resume. It has no template galleries, cover letters, job tracker, interview practice, or human resume review. It has no public reviews yet. It is a small product, with 9,900+ resumes made so far.

Rezi

Rezi is a resume builder with keyword tools. You paste a job description, and Rezi finds the keywords that are missing. You decide which keywords to add. It fits people who want to build one resume with guidance, then target it.

Rezi also has an AI Resume Agent that rewrites the resume in a chat. See Careerfornia vs Rezi for the full comparison.

Cost: Pro is $29 each month, and the Lifetime plan is $149 one time. Paid plans have a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Limit: The Free plan allows 1 resume and 3 PDF downloads.

Teal

Teal is a workspace for the full job search. It has a resume builder, a job tracker, and a free Chrome extension that saves jobs. For tailoring, it highlights the keywords of the job that you attach. It fits people who want one place for the search.

Cost: Teal+ is $13 each week, $29 each 30 days, or $79 each 90 days.

Limit: The free plan shows the top 5 keywords and gives 10 AI credits for bullet points.

Jobscan

Jobscan is a scanner first. You upload a resume and a job description. Its AI compares them and gives a match rate. It fits people who want to check a resume against one job. Its AI Optimize feature gives suggestions that you accept or reject.

Cost: The monthly plan is $49.95. The quarterly plan is $89.95 each 3 months, after a 7-day free trial.

Limit: The free plan lists 5 resume scans each month. It does not list AI Optimize.

Kickresume

Kickresume is a resume builder with 40+ templates. Its tailoring tool is a full rewrite. You paste the job description and click Tailor Now. The company says that the tool uses only the information in your resume. It fits people who want a designed resume and a fast rewrite.

Cost: The prices before discount are $24 each month, or $18 each month on the quarterly plan. The page showed a 20% discount on the day that we checked. There is a 14-day money-back guarantee.

Limit: The free plan gives one resume tailoring.

Enhancv

Enhancv is a resume builder with hundreds of templates. Its tailoring proposes a rewrite, and you accept or reject each change. It fits people who want design choices and control over each line.

Cost: The price cards on the pricing page did not load for us. The page data lists Pro at $39 for 1 month, $69 for 3 months, and $99 for 6 months. Check the page.

Limit: The free plan is valid for 7 days. After that, you cannot download a resume without Pro. Resumes download as PDF or TXT, not as a Word file.

Jobright

Jobright is a job search platform. Its home page lists matched jobs, application autofill, and a tailored resume. It fits people who want job matching and tailoring in one place.

Cost: Its pages say that you can start for free. We did not find a public price page for job seekers. The pricing page in its menu is for employers.

Limit: We could not confirm the free plan limits, the paid price, or the export formats.

What about ChatGPT and Claude?

A general chat tool can tailor a resume, but you do more of the work yourself. ChatGPT and Claude each have a free plan. You paste your resume and the job description, and you ask for a rewrite.

This option gives you full control, and more work:

  • You write the prompt. A weak prompt gives a weak resume.
  • You check the format, the headings, and the file.
  • You compare the result with the job description.
  • A chat tool can also add skills or numbers that are not true. Check each line.

Our guide to ChatGPT resume prompts has prompts that you can copy.

How should you choose?

Choose by how many jobs you apply to, and by how much control you want.

  • You apply to many jobs each week. Use a full-rewrite tool, such as Careerfornia or Kickresume. Keep time to read each resume.
  • You apply to a few jobs and want control over each change. Use a suggestion tool, such as Enhancv, Rezi, or Teal.
  • You want a score for a resume that you wrote. Use a scanner, such as Jobscan.
  • You want one place for the full job search. Look at Teal or Jobright. Each one puts a resume tool and job tools together.
  • You have no budget. Start with the free plans in the table. A chat tool with a good prompt is also free.

What should you check in any AI-tailored resume?

Check the facts first. An AI tool can write a line that is not true for you. Use this list for each resume.

  1. Facts. Employers, job titles, dates, and degrees must agree with your real history.
  2. Numbers. You must be able to explain each number. Remove a number that the tool added.
  3. Tools that you did not use. Remove each skill that you cannot discuss in an interview.
  4. Format. Copy the text out of the PDF. The text must be in the correct order. See the ATS-friendly resume format guide.
  5. File name. Use your name and the job title, for example Maria-Lopez-Data-Analyst.pdf.

No tool can promise an interview. To do the work by hand, read how to tailor your resume to a job description.

How did we make this comparison?

We read the public pages of each vendor on October 12, 2026. We opened the home page, the pricing page, and some feature pages of each tool. We recorded only what those pages say.

  • We did not test the paid plans of other tools. We do not judge the quality of their results.
  • The Teal and Jobscan sites blocked our direct requests. We read their pages through a page reader service.
  • Where a page did not state a fact, the table says so.
  • Prices change, and vendors give discounts. We will update this page.
  • If you work for a vendor and you find an error, write to [email protected]. We will correct it.
